Have you ever heard of oyster crackers? No I am not talking about eating an oyster on top of a cracker with a touch of horseradish and hot sauce but rather a cute little oyster shaped- you guessed it- cracker that is puffy and crispy and the perfect base for a load of seasonings.
No one had to introduce me to an oyster cracker. Eating handfuls of this delicious snack is something I grew up doing and since my college years I have done my share of introducing others to this amazingly simple snack. If you have stuck around my site long enough you have probably heard me speak about my late grandmother Lucy- a.k.a. the Queen Bee! She was known all around town for her oyster crackers. I have seen many recipes for them over the years but not one comes close to her perfection. I am not one to fancy myself with pre-mixed seasoning packets but if you don’t include a packet of ranch salad dressing (powder form) into this recipe then by all means just call it quits- give up while you can! Only Kidding!
Seriously, a mix of ranch dressing, oil, S&P, cayenne and her favorite ingredient-Dill- makes this snack irresistible and the perfect accompaniment to your New Year’s Eve party!
My grandma makes the same crackers, they are to die for and highly addicting. I haven’t had them in years, I need to make a batch.
Wow, I havent had an oyster cracker in years!! Looks like another great recipe!
Hope you are enjoying the Holidays!!

I LOVE oyster crackers! I never thought about adding spice to them. Good stuff!!
When I was growing up in New England…every time, I had some Chowda I would load it with oyster cracks!! I LOVE THEM AND I LOVE DILL…You know what this means??? I will be making those for my afternoon snack!! =)
My entire life, I have passed oyster crackers in the cookie/cracker aisle. My only pause was to purchase them for soup and stew. It never occurred to me that you could dress these crackers up in style, like you. These do look mighty tasty. Thanks for reminding me that my view of these little crackers were far to narrow.

Here in New England, if you ask for some crackers at a restaurant…oyster crackers is what you will get. I wish they would give you these great sounding oyster crackers.
Have a box in the pantry right now! My kids would love this for a snack, but I think I may have to hide them for the grownups. ; )
So easy, and something I’d definitely gobble up!
I have heard of oyster crackers you get from the store but not these.. these Dill Oyster Crackers are amazing. Wonderful recipe
My daughter used to eat these plain all the time. We couldn’t keep them in the cupboard! She loved them, but she seems to have lost her taste for them as a pre-teen/teen. As a 15 year old, I guess her palette is more refined, lol. Now she eats them in the saltine cracker form…a sleeve at a time! I love that kid!
These crackers sound wonderful! What a dleicious compliment to any soup! Thank you for sharing your recipe with the Hearth and soul Hop.

Flavoured crackers!!! Love it! What a shame that I’ve never seen any salad dressing in powder form selling in our supermarket! 🙁
Yummy, I love oyster crackers! It’s so funny–my family used to always make Ranch oyster crackers for New Year’s. I’ll have to try this recipe with the addition of the dill and cayenne–it sounds so good!

This sounds wonderful! I have not seen oyster crackers sold around here before! Are these crackers oyster flavoured or it is just their name? Got to keep my eyes open for these. Delicious addition with the dill and seasoning! Sounds really addictive! I bet these would be great done with cheese crackers too! Thanks for sharing!
